The Maker

Pond Creek Duck Calls was founded by Forrest Carvajal in 2022 in Greenbrier, Arkansas. The name was inspired by Pond Creek National Wildlife Refuge in Sevier County, Arkansas. It was here that Forrest learned how to duck hunt with his grandfather, shot his first duck, and shot his first banded duck.

Forrest has been an avid duck caller since childhood. At 15, he won a local main street junior calling contest, and from then on was hooked on collecting calls and competition calling. While Forrest has a long list of placements in various competitions, most noteworthy is his 1st place finish in the 2023 World Cutdown Calling Championship in Little Rock, Arkansas. Additionally in 2023, Forrest made it to the final round of the Wings Over the Prairie World Championship with his own Pond Creek duck call. Other noteworthy accomplishments include: 1st place in the 2023 Mississippi Delta Regional contest in Drew, Mississippi; 1st place in the 2022 St. Francis River Regional contest in Monette, Arkansas; qualified and competed in the 2022 Wings Over the Prairie World Championship in Stuttgart, Arkansas; an invitation to compete in the 2023 Callapalooza Callmaker’s Build-Off; and an invitation to judge the 2023 Delta Waterfowl Callmaker’s Championship.

Forrest lives in Greenbrier, Arkansas with his wife and two sons, and his dog Owen, a refined British Lab. He is a native of Texarkana, Arkansas. When the hype of duck season begins to fade in the spring, he becomes an avid bass fisherman.

Forrest is also a co-creator of Off the X Podcast, a popular podcast about all things waterfowl.
